An Open Letter to Ann Coulter

If you are a Liberal like me, well then you probably share the same feelings I do about Ann Coulter:  Ms. Coulter  is a thorn in my slightly left of center Liberal BACK SIDE! On soooooo many occasions, I have wanted to send Ms. Coulter a letter, blasting her (especially after seeing Ms. Coulter on HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher). I never followed through because I knew, by writing such a hateful letter, I was stooping to her narrow-minded level and who would want to do that?
Mr. Stephen’s eloquent post sums up how I feel about Ms. Coulter, as well as anyone who feels the need to bash people by calling them names. What Ms. Coulter says, reveals more about her than the person she is slinging mud at. I have such little respect for mud-slingers who use words like the R-word, or the L-word or H-word or my all time favorite: He/she is “in the closet”. To me, people who sling insults like these are truly small-minded idiots!
Mr. Stephens is my hero!

The World of Special Olympics

The following is a guest post in the form of an open letter from Special Olympics athlete and global messenger John Franklin Stephens to Ann Coulter after this tweet during last night’s Presidential debate.

Dear Ann Coulter,

Come on Ms. Coulter, you aren’t dumb and you aren’t shallow.  So why are you continually using a word like the R-word as an insult?

I’m a 30 year old man with Down syndrome who has struggled with the public’s perception that an intellectual disability means that I am dumb and shallow.  I am not either of those things, but I do process information more slowly than the rest of you.  In fact it has taken me all day to figure out how to respond to your use of the R-word last night.

I thought first of asking whether you meant to describe the President as someone who was bullied as a child…

  1. Thanks GE! I have reblogged also and posted to my Twitter account. So thoughtless and stupid of Coulter yet what an amazingly eloquent and inspirational young man, John Franklin Stephens!

  2. Well put! Coulter seems to thrive on trying to get people mad – what does that say about her psychological state? Also, Sarah Palin really got incensed once when a liberal used the “R” word. Why hasn’t she condemned Coulter?

    • Oh that’s right! I had forgotten about that. I believe the creators of Family Guy also did a skit on the very subject that upset Palin. So where is Mrs. Lipstick on a Dog (or was it a pig?) now that someone from her side is slinging mud?

  3. Thanks for posting this. You and I not only have the same taste in music, but we definitely have the same television viewing habits. I watched that same “Real Time” with Bill Maher — and I actually thought I was going to stroke out. I find her one of the most despicable people on the planet — especially since she uses her outrageous comments and hatred to make money. My wish is for the media to stop giving her a platform.

    • I completely agree. No only do I wish the media would stop giving her a platform, but I wish publishing companies would stop publishing her books. Coulter cultivates/fosters biases and hate and these companies are profiting from it. It’s sick.
