Ok, I realize this post has nothing to do with theme of my blog but I feel compelled to give a shout out to a great author (Deborah Harkness) and her fabulouoso books.
Last October, 2011 I read A Discovery of Witches (ADOW). From the first page, I was hooked. I devoured the book and was left wanting more; however, Book II: Shadow of Night wasn’t going to be realeased until July 2012. I pre-ordered the book via Amazon and I kid you not when I say I had my Outlook calendar marked, counting…down… the… days until the book was released. A week before the book was due to be released, I re-read ADOW and I have to say, I am so glad I did because there were things I had forgotten. It didn’t come as any surprise to me that re-reading ADOW was just as enjoyable the 2nd time around, so that says something about the book.
Currently, I am about 1/2 way through Shadow it is soooooooooooooooooo good! It is so good, in fact, that I actually made it a point to slow down so as to not finish the book too quickly. That being said, I have no idea as to when Book III will be released and as far as I can tell, it hasn’t even been written so Lord only knows how long I am going to have to wait. 😦 [sigh]
In closing, if you love history, especially European history, literature, vampires (not Twilight, more akin to Anne Rice), witches and daemons then The All Souls Trilogy is a must read!
